Editorial Review of Learning the Tarot: A Tarot Book for Beginners

Learning the Tarot is a complete course on how to use the tarot cards for personal guidance. The 19 lessons in the course cover the basics and then move gradually into more advanced concepts. Exercises and sample responses for each lesson help you learn and practice. For simplicity, only one easy layout is used throughout the course - the Celtic Cross Spread.

Learning the Tarot focuses in detail on the actual process of discovering meaning in the cards. Lessons cover topics such as how to consider one card by itself, how to look for card pairs, and how to create the "story" of a reading.

A convenient reference section contains two pages of information for each card including a picture from the popular Waite deck, a description, keywords, action phrases and suggestions for cards with similar and opposite meanings.

Review Summary: Easy & Helpful Read
Review: I really enjoy this book. I refer to the descriptions of the cards often and always find them helful and easy to understand and relate to. They help me to clarify my response to the cards in my readings. The exercises she suggests are also great tools to deepen your understanding of and relationship with your cards. I would highly reccommend this book and I feel it is a must-have for a beginner tarot reader.

Review Summary: Great Instight into the various interpretations of all the cards
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. It gives a great overall scope of each card and I loved the simplified charts of the Major and the minor arcana cards. I usually have trouble with the court cards and this book did a great job covering them, this helped me a lot. I did a few of the exercises but the strength of the book is in the interpretation of each card. There are other books that have a variety of spreads but if your interested in the celtic cross you will not be dissapointed. This book also had a few other spreads.

Review Summary: A waste of time!
Review: I bought this book hoping to learn about the symbolism in the images of the cards. The problem with this book is that the "meanings" of the cards are based more on the titles of the cards than the images. The true meaning of a tarot card is in its image, not in its title.
